Originally designed to meet the exacting requirements of the professional photographer, the Professional ‘M’ Series has over the past 40 years, become the de facto standard for many applications where the ultimate in quality and reliability are paramount. Many hundreds of thousands of machines are tested ‘day in, day out’ in dark rooms, photo labs, design houses, schools and  colleges, to name but a few.

The precision-engineered, virtually silent glide-cutting action coupled with extreme accuracy, outstanding robustness and reliability are often cited as the main reasons why the Professional ‘M’ Series is the machine by which all others are judged. The patented Overload Protection system (on M24 and above*) ensures that it is virtually impossible to overload the machine, even by the most heavy-handed of user.

This is the second smallest of the Professional 'M' Series range and is ideal where space is at a premium, it will comfortably cut materials up to 36" (914mm) in length, large enough to accommodate A1 landscape.

It is hand built in England by highly skilled technicians so you can be assured of the absolute highest quality of craftsmanship, accuracy, reliability and if looked after it will last a lifetime. It is a precision trimmer which will cut most flexible materials up to 2.0mm in thickness (see "Applications" tab for details of some of the materials the machine is known to cut).

Side Rule & Cursor
The Side Rule is set to precisely 90º to ensure that every cut is perfectly square. The adjustable Cursor ensures that jobs which require repeat cutting can be completed in no time.

MDF Baseboard
The heavy duty Melamaine coated MDF baseboard offers both a solid work platform and outstanding resistance to chemical contaminates and is extremely robust.

Twin Chromed Steel Guide Rails
The chrome plated twin guide rails both eliminate cutting head swivel, a major contributor to a poor cut and also help to ensure that silent glide of the head during the cutting action.

Clear Plastic Clampstrip
The clear plastic clampstrip has been designed to securely clamp the work in place during the cut, while offering a clear view of the work.

All Metal Head & End Frames
Both the cutting head and end frames are cast zinc and then painted. These parts offer incredible strength and regidity, all of which helps contribute to outstanding precision cuts.

Sheffield Steel Blades
The high quality, precision engineerined Sheffield steel blades offer an extremely long duty life, where the self sharpening rotary blade will last many years even when used all day, every day.
The Finest Sheffield Steel Blades
When building a trimmer which offers the ultimate in accuracy and precision, the blade contact point is everything! Every Professional M Series utilises the very finest steel blades, hand finished in Sheffield England.

Superbly Engineered in England
Each and every Professional M Series is built in England by highly skilled technicians. There is an absolute dedication to quality throughout the build process and nothing leaves the factory unless the engineer is 100% happy.

Engineered for precision, built to last
All components have been selected not only for their suitability, quaility and precision but also for their longevity. If looked after then every Professional M Series machine will last many, many years.

Cut far more than just paper
The high quality and precision built into the Professional M Series, results in such a precise cut that the machine will cut vitually all flexible materials from the thinnest of tissue paper, through to thick mount board.

Precision

The perfect 'shear point' is everything
Vital to the performance of every rotary trimmer is the accuracy of its ‘shear point’, the exact contact point between the rotary and flat (counter) blades at which the cut occurs. It is only by ensuring that the ‘shear point’ is both as perfect and consistent as possible, that a truly precise cut can be achieved.

To produce a machine that cuts perfectly on day one is one thing, to produce one that maintains the ‘Shear Point’ as the machine is used and as the blade wears, is another challenge altogether. Considerable effort during the blade design and manufacture process has been undertaken to ensure that the cut quality remains consistently precise through the life of the blades.

Exceptional Sheffield Steel blades

At the very centre of this ‘Design Philosophy’ and absolutely key to the performance of every machine are the exceptionally high quality blades. The Professional M Series blades are made from a heavy duty, hardened Sheffield tungsten steel, which can be manufactured to extremely tight tolerances while also offering excellent longevity.

The flat blade is designed to last the lifetime of the machine and while the self sharpening rotary blade will wear over time, you should expect 10 - 15 years life under normal use.

Accuracy, precision and flexibility

The intrinsic partnership between these precision engineered blades, which have been designed in combination to ensure the perfect ‘shear point’, results in a cut quality that is unrivalled in a rotary trimmer.

This allows the Professional M Series not only to cut with absolute precision but also ensures that the machine can cut off the thinnest slivers of material with ease. It also enables the machine to cut a wide variety of materials from the thinnest of tissue paper, through to thick mount board with absolutely no adjustment to the machine.

All of this adds further to the overall flexibility and ease of use offered by all Rotatrim machines.

Quality

Not all rotary trimmers are created equal

Every Professional M Series machine is hand built to exacting standards by a team of highly skilled engineers. Rotatrim’s ISO9001:2008 quality procedures ensures, that at every stage of manufacture, the product is checked for quality, accuracy and consistency.

Through the experience of building many thousands of machines, each of the engineers is able to tell if a machine is operating perfectly, just from the sound it makes when cutting. Rotatrim would welcome a visit to the our facilities, by any existing or potential customer, where you can see for yourself the; professionalism, attention to detail and ‘care’ that is put into every machine.

More than the sum of its parts

Every component has been carefully designed or selected to ensure that it offers optimal performance as part of the overall machine. From the incredibly tight tollercances to the exacting standards of quality demanded of every part, nothing is left to chance.

Exceptional quality is not only a requirement, it is an expectation and it is only by controlling every aspect of design, component procurement and manufacture, that these incredibly high standards can be assured.

The aim of building the best possible trimmer using only the highest quality components of which we can be proud, remains as the focus of everything we do at Rotatrim

Ease of Use & Robustness

With safety built-in and so easy to operate, it's childsplay...

The almost fully enclosed cutting head design, ensures that the Professional M Series is extremely safe to use, so much so that many 100,000's are put to the test, day in, day out, in schools and colleges throughout the UK.

Making the perfect cut is as simple as placing the work against the square side rule, lining up the edge to be cut with the flatblade and then running the cutting head across the work.

The clear plastic clampstrip, gridded baseboard and cursor for repeat cutting, all help to ensure that maximum throughput can be achieved with the minimum of effort.

Precision - Today, tomorrow, for a lifetime

You can buy an ordinary trimmer, or you can invest in a Rotatrim.  For over 45 years, every Professional M Series has been designed and built to last a lifetime.  Many trimmers are still in daily use after 20, 30 or even 40 years since they made their first cut.

The use of a heavy duty melamine coated MDF baseboard, all metal head and end frames, chome plated guide rails and Sheffield Steel blades, every component has been selected not only for its suitability, quaility and precison but also for its longevity.
